The Saturn / Neptune Conjunction: Timeline Work and the Metaphysics of Choice

For nearly two months, Neptune and Saturn have been conjunct. tThe god of the vast, expansive seas has been meeting the god of ground, land, and structure. And while Neptune moves toward the dissolution of boundaries, Saturn spends incredible amounts of energetic resources to construct them. Neptune wants to dissolve the known; Saturn wants to define it.

And in the sign of Aries, this tug-and-pull dance may often feel like an inner war. A collision between the urge to transcend structure, containment, and form and the need to deeply commit to it and comply. It is a tug of war between surrender and self-determination, and between vision and disciplined action.

This transit does not promise crystalline clarity, but in many ways, it does asks you to choose a direction. And this is one of the most important metaphysical lessons of the Saturn / Neptune conjunction: that “clarity and alignment” are not required for our choice points to become powerful nodal interventions that move life forward in both negative and positive ways. Neptune in Aries demands you to dream a bigger dream and loosen your grip on the known while Saturn asks you to focus and root into your assertive choices.

It is paradoxical, but the more you practice this, you’ll begin to see that our choices move energy in ways that “clarity and alignment” often cannot.

In practice, it looks like getting honest with yourself about what “alignment” really is: a temporary feeling that you are in the right place moving in the right direction. And while this feeling can be so valuable, it is also distracting for you to be chasing it all of the time.

This Saturn / Neptune conjunction shows us that in some cases, it is impossible to feel in 100% alignment all of the time and that this is actually the part where we get to mature in our discernment. It is an invitation to root into a deeper well of power: our conscious choices.

It’s also an invitation to step back and notice that you will find “clarity and alignment” on a multitude of timelines. You may be able to sense “right direction” in ten very different choices at a time.

And it is also an invitation to recognize that the training wheels of reality creation work are coming off for everybody. At some point, you have to choose a direction and trust that this direction is one right right direction among many, many correct ones in your arsenal.

Congrats on the graduation.

This Saturn / Neptune conjunction invites you to think about choices through the lens of liabilities and assets and how in order to do this, you need a wider, wilder perspective. You need to be able to tune into the larger picture, the overall desired direction of your soul, so that you can be deliberate and assertive about how you are moving forward with your choices.

This slow, alchemical, erratic dance exists to refine your will. And it is a necessary rite for visionaries who are building toward futures we can only barely see or imagine.

Saturn and Neptune have been conjunct since the end of April, and conjunct in the same sign—Aries—since late May. Their conjunction will continue until March 2026, though they’ll retrograde back into Pisces over the next six weeks and stay in Pisces through end of the year and the beginning of next before returning back together in the sign of Aries in February 2026.

That said, please prepare for the fact that this is a long, diffused, erratic arc of decision making process. It is a training ground for sharpening your choice-making and discernment and for watching your subconscious assumptions.

During this time, you may feel like you're being cooked in your decision-making processes. One day you feel aligned toward North and the next toward South. Your potential to truly take off in generative momentum presses up against the sense that you can’t compromise on how you get there. Your standards are rising. Your tolerance for fantasy is dropping. And yet that tantalizing feeling of “clarity and alignment” might still feel out of reach because you’re feeling confronted by the idea that you have many deeply-aligned choices in front of you that will all take you into different directions.

I call this liminal state the burbling, because that’s how it moves through the subtle body. Back and forth. Up and down. Left and right. Where is the center? There is constant simultaneous expansion and contraction. You might feel like you’re making progress and backtracking at the same time. You might feel the pressure to be sure, but the truth is: this conjunction doesn’t offer certainty, it does requires your choice.

I know. So confusing.

But this transit is the 201 class of mystery school and manifestation.

Saturn and Neptune are teaching you about how to do timeline work right now. And timeline work isn’t about knowing what’s going to happen or how you will get to the happening moment.. It’s not about “clarity and alignment” in the traditional sense. It’s about choosing a direction and training your system to focus on that direction. To create space in your body for what emerges. To release your grip on the specifics, while staying in relationship with the vision.

This capacity for conscious choice without the safety net of “clarity and alignment” is a metaphysical rite of passage.

And you must pass it in order to access the gifts of this transit.
