On Shifting Realities (and why)
This podcast was originally shared inside of the Futurewriting Collective as a private podcast episode. Enjoy.
You might be feeling it every bit as much as I am, but I feel like this is the time to get really, really good at learning how to shift reality—learning how to take what is in front of you and alchemize it into something else.
Now, some people might hear this and say, "Well, isn't that bypassing? Shouldn't we be taking reality as it is and processing what's in front of us?" Sure. But there are levels, and I want you to run this through your system to see what comes through for you.
When What We're Offered Doesn't Add Up
There are levels that I am seeing and noticing and witnessing where what we're being offered, what we're being given, doesn't add up to what we all can know and access at the soul level from the soul nature.
We see a lot of things shaking down on the political landscape. We see things happening in the lives of people that are close to us. And it's all evidence that there is a story—multiple stories, actually—running in culture and through the world that are no longer of service to where humanity at the soul level longs to be going.
You might feel that. I know I do.
Story work, in essence, is about taking those stories and asking what is useful, parsing it out, and calling up the new stories that long to be born.
Who's Writing Your Story?
What we are doing is noticing, witnessing, taking stock of what is here and finding the wherewithal and the inner authority and the inner clarity to say that we don't have to subject ourselves to living a story that someone else has written for us.
When we look around and we look up, we see that there are a lot of people on the world stage who are ready to write our stories for us. There are a lot of people who are ready to imagine the world for us. They are not shy about it. They're talking about it all the time—the world that they want to see.
And this world that they are actively calling in and creating is not a world that benefits you and me. It's a world that benefits them and their desire for more, for excess, for power, for greed. You can see how these characters on the world stage will stop at nothing to create the world that they see in their imaginations.
The World Was Imagined Into Form
I love how Adrienne Maree Brown talks about this in her book Pleasure Activism—how the world was imagined into form. This version, this story of capitalism and power and patriarchy and unfairness that we see in the world, of poverty, of the lack of awareness of how powerful we are—this was all imagined by someone.
Someone desired and saw a story of power that actually isn't true to the story we each are holding. The power that says that our voltage, our electricity, actually comes not from stealing it from other people, stealing other people's life force and paying them minimum wage in return, but it actually comes from being nourished and held and known and loved by the body of the earth herself.
Where Your Real Power Comes From
Think about where the power in your body is coming from. It's not just coming from people giving you power or taking from you. Your power comes from your cells being deeply nourished. It comes from your root structure being deeply embedded in the earth. It comes from you knowing that you radically, inherently, irrevocably belong.
No one can strip your belonging, your royalty, your identity as a child of the divine away from you. That's where power comes from. It doesn't come from people thinking you're pretty or smart, or from you taking it away from someone else. Your power comes from being integrated with the consciousness of Earth.
Spiritual Laws as Paintbrushes
When we think about power and harnessing the power that the Earth already has, the wisdom that she already offers, we can see that the Earth is trying to teach us through beautiful spiritual laws—the law of cycles, the law of regeneration, the law of assumption.
Spiritual law is a tool, a technology, a mythic tool that helps you say, "Okay, if I lay this on my subconscious, if I borrow this for a moment and see through this lens, what could be? What might I create with that?"
It is a paintbrush. Law is a paintbrush that you put into your hand, dip into the paint, and begin to create certain shapes on the page. Different paintbrushes offer different shapes to the masterpiece that you are creating.
You Have the Same Power
We have the power to speak a world into existence every bit as much as the characters on the world stage that we're seeing trying to breathe culture into form according to what they see.
This work of shifting reality is really geared toward getting you equipped to begin to know how to breathe life into not only the future, but your present reality—today, now.
Start with Your Personal Reality
A lot of people want to bypass the personal reality. You want to see reality change at the global scale. I don't want you to change that. Keep that in proximity to your heart. Keep your desire and the burn in your heart to see global economy, global culture shift into a new state.
But it's really important, so that you don't get discouraged, for you to know how to consciously shift reality inside of your personal world. When you know how to do it at the personal level, then you have the muscle, the know-how, the practice to begin to bring that into form at the collective level.
You Are Not Defined by Your Struggle
If you're in a place right now where you're deeply struggling, I want you to know that there's nothing morally wrong, nothing ethically wrong with you being in a place of struggle. You can be seen, witnessed, and known in your struggle, but you will not be defined by that struggle.
You are not to be identified with your struggle because the truth is that you have the power to shift out of your struggle anytime that you want.
This is edgy for some people. I myself know what it's like to create an entire identity out of the high-sensation experience I'm having. I know what it's like to think the entire world exists in the shape of my hard experiences. But the truth is that that is not the case.
The New Stories Want to Be Born
The truth is there are all kinds of possibilities outside of the constructs that we have been given. Story work says, "What are the new stories? What are the new realities that long to take form in our collective—and not just the collective, but the culture and in our personal realities? How can we call up those stories into form? How can I embody the new story? How can I live a new story in my personal, everyday reality?"
I want you to feel so adept at calling that new story into form that you don't ever have to question whether or not what you're calling into form at the collective level is going to happen.
Cultivating Personal Power
This is how we start to gain our own futurewriting capabilities. We start to cultivate personal power by first taking responsibility for the story that we are currently living and saying, "I can change this. I can shape this into any reality that I want."
It takes laying aside some core assumptions that you might have about the world and being willing to suspend your disbelief that what you believe is possible is the thing that's happening. What you assume to be true is what is going to come to pass.
Remembering Your Indigenous Power
This futurewriting technology is not something that just exists in manifestation spaces. This is a technology that cultures around the world have always had at their disposal. Many of us are very disconnected from our indigenous cultures and traditions, but those cultures had ways of creating reality and maintaining our power to create reality that were unique to each culture, unique to each ecology that culture lived in.
These rituals, these tools, these experiences of futurewriting technology, of seership, of being able to see into the future and call that future into form—they were definitely online.
Part of this work is really inviting you to remember: before the western world began to colonize the minds of our ancestors, who were you as a futurewriting technologist? Before there was an agenda on your labor, before there was an agenda on your life force, before there was an agenda on your shakti, who were you as a creator, as a creatrix?
Before there was an agenda on what you came here to bring into form, before someone else decided what your life would become, before you became a statistic of any nation—who were you as a creator before that?
It's from that place that we begin to harness our own power to create reality. It's from that place we begin to remember that all of these self-limiting stories that constantly keep us small are just constructs. Your soul's mandate is to create the futures that you want to be living inside of, to create the current reality that actually feeds and nourishes culture.
Right now our culture is a flat expression of itself. It's dulled out. Everyone is asleep to their own power. But when we become awake, we begin to bubble up and change and evolve and expand and shift and grow. We become something wildish again. We become something that creates itself, something that breathes itself into form.
That is what shifting reality is about.
