What is storywork?
The stories we tell about what is true or possible shape the futures we exist inside of.
Stories are ontological cartographies. They are maps of our being.
They are maps of our futures. Maps of ancestries. Maps of old and new dimensions. Maps of building. Maps of loving. Maps of connection.
Stories help us understand what exactly it is we care about. They help us understand our fears. Our desires, our creative will, our potential futures, and our projections.
They help us understand our capacities, our wiring, our context, our imaginal dexterity, and our will to feel, connect, and shape ourselves.
Stories are powerful futurewriting technologies. They help us carve out our inner and outer architectures. They help us make sense of our knowing and unknowing, our loving and unloving, our entanglements and enchantments and more.
If you want to craft futures, make an impact, or find ways of living more intentionally—start with your stories.
Start with the stories you tell yourself about what is true, what is real, what is good, what is possible, who your work is for, and who it is not for; who can love you, who can know you, and who can’t.
And ask yourself questions about those stories. Get radically curious about the boundaries and limitations of the stories you’re repeating to yourself over and over and over again.
Listen, examine, and then scribe.
Scribe new stories. Imagine new futures. You have permission to do this.
