For years, people have asked me,

"What is vision midwifery? What does it mean to be a vision midwife?"

To midwife is to walk alongside of something that is not yet fully formed or complete. It is to stay with the unfolding. To hold, witness, and respond to what is coming into being. This is true in birth. This is true in death. And it is true in the visionary process.

In the Western world, vision is not always held as sacred. We are taught to see our visionary capacity as simply the ability to generate and build ideas and in that reduction, we become disconnected from the soul-level implications of what is actually being asked of us. We lose the thread between vision and the cultural implications of building a vision and between what we are imagining and what we are being called to become.

In ancient cultures, the visionary process was treated as one of the most sacred of human experiences, because it is through a person's vision that they begin to realize their contribution to the culture, the tribe, the village, the community. That contribution becomes their role. And that role is held as sacred not because it is prestigious, but because it is load-bearing and if a person does not do what they are called to do, the entire ecosystem feels the absence.

We are living in a time when that thread has been severed for many people. And Vision Midwifery is, in part, the work of helping people find it again.

Vision Midwifery, to me, requires a lot of witnessing and holding as sometimes once-ambitious people begin to accept the death of an old paradigm in their bodies.

It requires a lot of sitting with and listening to the dissolution of what we thought vision was supposed to bring us. When a person is surrendering to a soul-level vision, all previous ways of knowing have to be recalibrated. Discernment has to be sharpened. Space has to be made for the visionary process to occur. And frankly, this could take years.

Vision Midwifery is not just about space holding and listening, but it's about supporting the threshold or the rite of passage that a visionary is moving through in the creation of what they feel they are here to bring. Vision Midwifery is holding space for identity dissolution, imagination healing, and the re-rooting of the creative process back into right relationship with the Anima Mundi, the Earth, as a contribution to our shared future.

By proxy, a lot of Vision Midwifery  is grief and death tending within the imagination. It's holding space for the ego to reconfigure itself to a sense of radical, inherent, irrevocable belonging, and to the earth-bound limitations of the Western World.

Vision Midwives not only need to know the practicals of how to "build" vision, but they also need a wider, wilder, regenerative philosophy to help orient people to building beyond what the Western World offers.

Vision Midwifery is equal parts vision development, business philosophy, spiritual ecology, rites of passage, and palliative care for culture.

Because not only are we supporting the development of sustainable infrastructure, but we are educating on cultural thresholding as well.

Vision Midwives need to know more than  "how to get quick results".We need to know how to hold change as people's frames for the world begin crack open at the edges. We need to know how to support the practicals of reconstruction as our ideas of success in the Western World begins to evolve.

We need to know how to meet psycho-spiritual fragmentation at a cultural level with lovingkindness, a firm / steady / no bs presence, and deep care for what is emerging next.

About the Training

1. What It Is

Vision Midwifery is a practice of creative and business development guidance rooted in ecopsychology, earth-based spirituality and a kinship worldview.

It is comparative to creativity coaching or business coaching, but it goes so much deeper than most creativity coaching offers. It understands the visionary process as initiatory. It knows that bringing a vision into the world is not just a business development challenge. It is a rite of passage. And it requires someone who knows how to walk in that inner territory of soul.

2. Who it's for

You have already been doing this work, perhaps without a name for it. You have found yourself walking with others at thresholds of change, in the tender places where creativity, business development, identity work, and soul-level initiation converge. People have come to you in the midst of creative / visionary thresholds and some deeper part of you has known how to attune and stay when things fall apart.

You are looking for a frames that go as deep as the work you are already being called to do. You are looking for frameworks that are earth-rooted, soul-led and also practical for building the bones and structure of vision. You are looking for communities of regenerative practice that can hold grief and death tending alongside of the vision development process.

The typical coaching certification hasn't given you that.

Vision Midwife is a community of practice and training for creativity and business practitioners who want to grow their impact, strengthen their body of work, and deepen their practice of facilitation.

3. What We'll Explore

Vision Midwifery is equal parts vision development, business philosophy, spiritual ecology, rites of passage, and palliative care for culture. In this three-month cohort, you'll locate your own lineage in this work, build your ethos and frame, and begin to recognize vision midwifery as a distinct and sovereign practice oriented toward nurturing a whole world.

The Curriculum

→ Session 1: Who is a Vision Midwife?

This session orients participants to the mythopoetic identity of the Vision Midwife. We explore how vision midwifery is distinct from creativity coaching and business mentorship, and what it means to approach this work from a earth-based worldview.

→ Session 2: Mapping Your Lineage of Vision Midwifery

In this session, participants will begin to map their own lineage: the initiations, the thresholds, the teachers, the traditions, and the lived experiences that have shaped their capacity to walk with others in the visionary process.

→ Integration Session 1: Reflections + Discussion: Space to metabolize, share, and integrate what has surfaced in Sessions 1 and 2. This is a held, communal container for reflection.

→ Session 3: Vision Midwifery as Thresholdwork

This session explores the initiatory structure of the visionary process: the descent, the dissolution, the gestation, and the emergence. Participants will develop a felt understanding of how to read the threshold someone is standing at, and what kind of holding that threshold requires. We'll also briefly explore how to build and test frameworks for supporting clients through the initiatory process.

→ Session 4: Business Midwifery in a Changing World, Pt. I

This session examines the broader cultural context in which we are doing this work: the collapse of Western paradigms of success, the psycho-spiritual fragmentation that accompanies that collapse, and what it means to support someone in building beyond those paradigms. We begin to develop an ethos of business midwifery that is rooted in regenerative philosophy, spiritual ecology, and palliative care for culture.

→ Integration Session 2: Reflections + Discussion: Space to metabolize, share, and integrate what has surfaced in Sessions 3 and 4. This is a held, communal container for reflection.

→ Session 5: Business Midwifery in a Changing World, Pt. II

Building on the ethos developed in Part I, this session moves into the practical and eco-somatic dimensions of holding a client's vision development process. We explore scope, boundaries, and the art of knowing what is yours to hold and what is not, including how to work with projection, over-identification, and the places where a client's initiation begins to activate your own.

→ Session 6: Meeting Clients Where They Are in the Soul's Journey

Not every client arrives at the same threshold, and the Vision Midwife's capacity to attune to where someone actually is (rather than where they think they should be) is one of the most essential skills in this work. This session introduces frameworks for reading the season of a client's visionary process, understanding the soul's timing, and offering support that meets the depth of what is actually present rather than rushing toward resolution or form.

→ Integration Session 3: Reflections + Discussion: Space to metabolize, share, and integrate what has surfaced in Sessions 3 and 4. This is a held, communal container for reflection.
