Where I Got Worldbuilding From

I got “Worldbuilding” from black womanist philosophy, my grandfather, long afternoons watching 1950's Doctor Who and Lost in Space, undergrad creative writing school, the cracked spines of my Anne Shirley collection, V.C. Andrews, and my afro-cuban Classicist professor who bridged the gap between latin conjugations, my love for sci-fi, and West African indigenous ecological wisdom.

He said, “Remember that this is all in your body.”

And every now and then, I encounter folks who remind me that this is okay. That it's okay to be centering this as an alternative path of “business”. That we don't have to choose between meta ads bro and narcky boss babe barbie for ideas about how to create and contribute to new economies on this planet. That we can be economically empowered and care about each other and in tune and connected to the Earth.

We can start practicing other ways now. And my shares on vision midwifery, visionary praxis, and worldbuilding field notes from what I've seen work in my work and in the work of my clients in the last decade of rebelliously soft, renegade story-driven, people-centric brand dev.

Why? Because for many of us, "Entrepreneurship” is not a cute little side project.

It's not a get rich quick scheme. It's not a quack hack. It is a life way. It is a modern vessel for remembering the creative inheritance we've been given by the Earth.

As a 4th generation entrepreneur, I could give two shits about your vanity metrics because I've seen again and again that what matters most is your vision fo success for yourself and that you feel the courage to take up more space and place in this world. That you can anchor a life that feels good in your bones and supports you to create the kind of impact in people's lives that you need God's help for.

And I know that this kind of success doesn't come from just learning a few new helpful tactics. It comes from getting right with your soul and your soul's true direction and allowing yourself to practice your craft, build with bravery, and to learn new things in the process.

This is the culture / spirit of our work in the Worldbuilding School, a six-week incubator for wild-hearted creative entrepreneurs who are in the beginning-stages of their process. Together we build with equal parts strategy, embodiment, intuition, and depth. Knowing that what we build and how we build contributes to the futures we share together.

We do 80% of the “homework” together in class, so you're never truly alone in the build.
